Searching Me

When searching my name I found that very few things show up on the Internet for everyone to see. There are no images of me on Google images.  The only website that shows up is my Google plus account.  My Google plus account is linked with my full name and is not set on private settings.  Both my twitter and Facebook account are protected with private settings on everything.  This makes it very difficult for any content with my name on it to make it to the Internet.  Before I changed the settings on my Facebook I could search my name and find photos of myself, my family and any close friends I had photos or a lot of posts with.  This made me a little uneasy so I decided to make everything private.

Uploading vs. Embedding

There are two different ways to upload photos, embedding and uploading.  Embedding requires the uploader to copy and paste the html code to the blog server.  Uploading an image is simply posting the image directly to the blog.  Uploading and embedding both have their own advantages and disadvantages.  If content is uploaded through a third party service it then can be viewed on the sharing site itself and also the blog or anywhere else you might post it. On the other hand if an image is directly posted to blog without using a third party sharing service it is very simple and does not require many additional steps.  If an image is embedded then it gives the viewer access to the sharing site and may allow them to see all of your uploaded photos.  This can be nice for sharing a variety of albums.  There are some disadvantages to this.  If the Flickr account is ever deleted then the images will be deleted wherever they have been posted.  Also the user may not want to give all viewers to have access to their photos.  I believe embedding gives the viewer multiple ways to view the image while uploading directly to the blog is simple and gives the uploader a better sense of privacy.

Company that uses wikis for collaboration

CORT Business Services uses wikis and blogs to help improve its business.  CORT is a site that rents out office furniture and relocates businesses’ employees.  CORT uses a blog to post updates on bugs or any other problems the website may be having.  This helps to improve productivity and eliminates any confusion that there might be.  CORT requires all employees to subscribe to their blog allowing everyone to see any new changes or announcements the company has.  This keeps them from having to constantly send private emails to each employee.  Using a blog is a great way to increase productivity allowing everyone to share his or her own ideas.  The company announced that since they have adopted this new method they have improved sales and have had very few problems.  Using a blog is a great way to connect all employees at once and makes life a little easier.

Three Favorite Websites

My first favorite website would have to be YouTube.  YouTube is a place where anyone can post his or her own videos for anyone to see.  YouTube has grown to have many different purposes from educational videos to short funny clips and even full shows.  If you have a question on how to do something there is more than likely a video on YouTube that will explain to you step by step how to do it.  YouTube has made some people very famous.  By posting videos that get millions of views this will tend to make you a very popular person.  YouTube has changed the way video media is affecting the world today.

My second favorite website is ESPN.  I have always been a huge sports fan and this is a place where you can go to catch up on all of the latest sporting news.  As long as I can remember I have been watching Sports Center on ESPN and this makes it easy for you to see updates that you may have missed on the television.  The ESPN website is broken down into categories by sport so it is very easy to navigate through and makes finding what you want easy.

My third favorite website is Google.  Google has really changed the way people navigate the through the Internet.  Google gives you access to the billions of websites that are out there and makes them easily accessible.  Google will also list websites by key word and give you any relating websites.  This gives you more information than you could ever imagine.
